Tottenham are making moves to bring former Inter Milan chief Piero Ausilio to North London.
Piero Ausilio is being sounded out by Tottenham over a potential move to North London, as per a report from Alfredo Pedulla. Following the 51-year-old’s departure from Inter Milan, Marco Conterio has suggested that a move to the Premier League club is very likely.
Ausilio has brought an end to an extraordinary 28-year association with Inter Milan. His departure is understood to be his own decision rather than being forced by the expiry of his contract, with the 54-year-old now preparing to consider the next chapter of his career.
Tottenham have emerged as one of the most interesting possibilities. The North London club already have Johan Lange as their sporting director but have previously operated with a co-sporting director structure, opening the door for another experienced figure to work alongside the existing hierarchy.
Spurs formally adopted that model in October 2025 with Lange and Fabio Paratici, who left the club in January 2026 to return to Italy. With the position still vacant, Tottenham have explored several potential candidates since then.
However, they are yet to find the perfect fit for their setup, having also ruled out a move for Sebastian Kehl. Ausilio’s availability could provide an opportunity they are unwilling to overlook.
What could Ausilio bring to the table?
Ausilio’s record at Inter Milan makes him an attractive proposition for Tottenham. Having spent almost three decades at the club, he played a significant role in shaping the Nerazzurri’s modern era through intelligent recruitment and talent identification.
His work has included finding value in the market while also helping construct squads capable of competing at the highest level. That experience could prove valuable to Tottenham as they attempt to establish greater consistency and return to the top end of English football.
The potential move would also bring a wealth of knowledge from the Italian transfer market. Ausilio has spent years working across different recruitment strategies and understands how to identify players who can improve a squad without necessarily requiring enormous transfer fees.
Inter, meanwhile, are already preparing for life after Ausilio. Giuseppe Marotta is expected to promote Dario Baccin internally to take over his responsibilities, ensuring continuity at the Serie A giants. For Tottenham, however, the possibility of appointing Ausilio represents an opportunity to add one of Europe’s most experienced recruitment figures to their football structure.
