Teddy Sheringham urges Manchester United to sign Morgan Gibbs-White alongside Elliot Anderson

Former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham has urged the club to sign Nottingham Forest duo Morgan Gibbs-White and Elliot Anderson this summer.

Manchester United look like a completely different team under Michael Carrick. After a disappointing first half that led to the departure of Ruben Amorim, the former United midfielder has helped them climb up at some pace. The Red Devils are currently third on the table, and securing UEFA Champions League football for next season looks very likely.

Sheringham urges Manchester United to sign Nottingham Forest duo

As a result, the Red Devils have started planning for the summer transfer window. The club want to further bolster their squad, as they aim to get back to the top of English football. Their priority is to reinforce their midfield, and former striker, Teddy Sheringham, wants the club to sign Morgan Gibbs-White alongside Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.

While speaking on TEAMtalk, the 60-year-old said, “I really like Anderson at Nottingham Forest, and I really like Gibbs-White as well. When Tottenham were in for him, I was very excited about that.

“I can understand why Forest wouldn’t let him go because of the calibre of player he is. He’s very different to Anderson – he gets forward, he’s got great tenacity, wants to fight people, and the aggression and will-to-win comes out in him. I think he’s a top, top player.”

Gibbs-White was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham last summer, and it did excite Sheringham, who spent the majority of his career playing for the North London club. However, the move collapsed, as the English international penned a new deal at the club.

Now, Sheringham has urged Manchester United to go after the 26-year-old playmaker alongside Elliot Anderson, as he can offer more depth in the final third, and his creativity could make the Red Devils a lot more threatening going forward.

The former West Ham coaching staff member further added, “He comes out a little bit differently to Anderson, but they complement each other perfectly in the Forest midfield. Could they [United] get them both? Money talks, doesn’t it, and what a readymade duo that would be to add to the Manchester United squad.”

Gibbs-White and Anderson could be ideal for Manchester United

With Casemiro leaving the club at the end of the season and Manuel Ugarte extensively linked with an exit, the Red Devils are set to revamp their midfield. Elliot Anderson is already quite high on their list, as they consider him an ideal replacement for the Brazilian international.

The Englishman has great defensive awareness and composure on the ball, making him just the perfect fit for their midfield. The 23-year-old is rated at over £90 million, and Nottingham Forest seem ready to cash in on him.

While Manchester United won’t find it easy to secure his services, as there is no shortage of interest in him, they seem willing to push hard. Sheringham wants them to go hard for Gibbs-White as well, who is rated in the £80 million bracket. The former Tottenham attacker has urged the club to raid Nottingham Forest for the duo who could cost a total of £170 million.

Given how the pair complement each other, they could do wonders for the Red Devils. But striking a deal for them won’t be easy because of the competition and the high cost of the operation.
