Liverpool and Newcastle United are primed to chase Jeremy Monga alongside rivals Arsenal and Manchester United, as Leicester City could sell.
Jeremy Monga is one of the brightest teenage prospects in English football, and the summer window could see Leicester City forced to concede defeat in their efforts to keep him. As per Football Insider, Liverpool and Newcastle United have entered the race to sign the 16-year-old English wonderkid, with Arsenal and Manchester United already in the running.
Between Ruud van Nistelrooy and Gary Rowett, Leicester City have had four managers, and all of them have trusted the teenage sensation with regular minutes. The former gave the youngster his debut, which at the time made him the second youngest Premier League player, and the attacking prospect has since grown in stature.
Having already played 35 times for the Foxes’ first team, Monga could be out of the club in the upcoming summer window as he may not sign professional terms. Leicester City are staring down the barrel of relegation to League One, with the club needing to cover a five-point gap to escape the drop, although they only have four games to do so.
Leicester City are expected to concede defeat in their efforts to keep Monga, who was linked with a big-money move back in January. However, as things stand, some of the interested clubs can sign him for as little as £2 million, as per the report, with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United among those interested.
Arsenal and Manchester United have developed a reputation for bringing top-rated young talents closer to first-team action. Monga is certainly on the periphery of challenging for a place at one of those sides, which could see the English duo charge ahead towards signing the 16-year-old wonderkid.
Will Liverpool and Newcastle United chase Jeremy Monga?
Liverpool are in the mix to sign Jeremy Monga, as they want to follow up on their success with Rio Ngumoha and bring in another promising young talent. The only issue is that Monga and the young Reds winger play in similar positions, which might hamper their respective development arcs. Yet, the Merseysiders are angling to get a deal in place for the Leicester City prodigy ahead of the summer.
Newcastle United are also in the mix for Monga, as they too are targeting one of the brightest teenage prospects in the country. Moreover, the availability of such a player for a modest compensation fee would largely bring the Magpies to the table. Overall, the Leicester City star is expected to leave and is anticipating big offers from top clubs in the Premier League.
