AC Milan keen on Andy Robertson

AC Milan are the latest to enter the race for Andy Robertson, with the Italian giants ready to take advantage of Tottenham’s situation.

Andy Robertson is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, with several clubs angling to sign him on a free transfer. Tottenham are reportedly leading the race, but as per Calcio Mercato, AC Milan are now keen to land the experienced wide man in the summer.

Andy Robertson has decided to leave Liverpool after a long association that has borne plenty of success over the years. Two Premier League titles, one Champions League, and a few domestic cups aside, the Scottish international established himself as one of the most formidable left-backs in the division.

AC Milan are the latest to enter the race for Robertson, with the Italian giants eager to build on their current success and add an experienced star to the setup. They are keen to bolster the left-back slot, although they tend to play with a back three and wing-backs under Massimiliano Allegri. Davide Bartesaghi has emerged in the team, while Pervis Estupinan could leave in the summer.

Robertson is seen as the likely candidate to replace the Ecuadorian, and adding the experienced Liverpool wide man will be good for the short to medium term of the club. The Scottish international could also play in a defensive back three, as well as feature in the wing-back role, which makes total sense for Milan to make the move.

There are other Italian sides eager to explore a move, while there are clubs within England also keen to understand if signing Robertson is possible. Tottenham are currently leading the race for the defender, given they were close to bringing him in during January, although there’s a caveat.

Tottenham still leading the race for Robertson?

Tottenham reportedly have an agreement of sorts with Robertson’s camp, although that could be contingent on their survival in the Premier League. With Spurs finishing the weekend inside the relegation zone, there is a real danger they could go down at the end of the season, which Milan will see as an opportunity.

Milan are seemingly ready to explore an early agreement, as they can open immediate talks with his camp, given they do not play in England. However, Spurs remain in a strong position to sign Robertson, as the defender is likely to decide on his future closer to the end of the season.
