Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to face stiff competition from Hull City and Celtic in their pursuit of Liverpool full-back Andrew Robertson.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur are no longer the only club that are after Andrew Robertson’s signature. The North London outfit will have to battle Hull City as well as Celtic to get their hands on the Liverpool full-back.
Robertson, who has been a part of the Merseyside club since 2017, is set to leave the club after the end of the season. The 32-year-old is all set to bring an end to his nine-year-long stint, in which he has won two Premier League and a Champions League title.
Having racked up less than 1,700 minutes in his 32 appearances this season, Robertson was no longer keen on extending his stay at Anfield as a back-up option. As a result, he is set to leave them as a free agent, and there is no shortage of interest.
Tottenham, who were after Andrew Robertson’s signature during the winter window, had already reached an understanding with the player earlier in the year. Things have not changed following Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival. He has given the green light to the move, and the Italian would love to have such an experienced campaigner in his squad.
The player has officially confirmed his departure from Liverpool, which means he is on the verge of joining Tottenham as a free agent. While Spurs are fighting for survival, their relegation might not affect their agreement with the club.
Celtic and Hull City to rival Spurs
However, since the deal has not been finalised yet, clubs are trying their best to lure. Celtic want to take Andrew Robetback to Scotland, while his former club Hull City want him to be a marquee signing for them if they secure promotion to the top flight.
The Scottish giants see him as an option to strengthen their backline. His leadership and experience could have a massive impact on the squad as a whole. Meanwhile, Hull City are closely monitoring him as they prepare for a potential return to the top flight.
The Tigers currently occupy a play-off spot, and if they manage to secure promotion, they have already discussed the possibility of making the 32-year-old an offer. He will be a huge upgrade on left-back, and his experience could help them survive in the top flight.
