Manchester United working on Manuel Ugarte sale amid exit links

Serie A giants Juventus have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Manchester United misfit Manuel Ugarte.

The focus remains on securing UEFA Champions League football for next season, but it seems Manchester United have already started working for the upcoming transfer window. Revamping the midfield is going to be their priority. While they will focus on new signings, the Red Devils will also look to move on players who are no longer a part of their plans.

According to El Pais via Sport Witness, Manchester United have made a decision regarding Manuel Ugarte’s future. The player is surplus to requirements, and they are looking to get him off their books. The Red Devils have started working towards his sale, and it is a massive boost for Juventus, who are keen on his signature.

Manchester United forked out around €50 million to sign Manuel Ugarte from PSG in the summer of 2024. While they had massive expectations from the South American midfielder, he has failed to live up to them. The managerial changes have not helped his cause either.

While he was hoping to revive himself under Michael Carrick, even that has not gone as planned. Ugarte has been involved in 23 matches this term, racking up less than 1,000 minutes of first-team action.

Ugarte’s departure now looks certain

Manuel Ugarte is frustrated by the lack of minutes, and he looks set to push for an exit. Since he is not a part of their plans, even Manchester United are ready to sanction his departure. The Premier League giants are no longer considering possibilities; they are actively working to get him off their books.

Since the former PSG midfielder is only 24 and remains a regular for Uruguay, he still has a decent market value. The funds raised could help Manchester United with their summer plans of revamping their midfield. While there are a number of Serie A clubs that are keen on his signature, Juventus seem to be the most serious suitor at this stage.

Their sporting director, Marco Ottolini, is watching the Manchester United misfit closely during the international break, as they plot a raid on Manchester United. The Uruguayan international wants his future resolved before the World Cup; as a result, the next few weeks will have a big impact on his future.
