MLS beckons as American giants Inter Miami and LA Galaxy are reportedly eyeing departing Manchester United star Casemiro.
Casemiro’s time at Manchester United is winding down, and while the Brazilian still has the pedigree to influence games at the highest level, the conversation around his next move is already gathering pace. After a difficult spell mixed with flashes of the old authority, the veteran midfielder now looks set for one fresh challenge away from Old Trafford.
For a player of Casemiro’s stature, there was never likely to be a shortage of options. Even at 34, his reputation remains strong enough to attract interest from clubs capable of offering both profile and ambition. The question is no longer whether he will leave Manchester United, it is where one of the game’s most decorated midfielders lands next.
A report by TEAMtalk has suggested that two of MLS’s biggest clubs are now seriously exploring a move for Casemiro, with both Inter Miami and LA Galaxy credited with strong interest ahead of the summer.
Inter Miami’s appeal is easy to understand as the Florida side has made a habit of targeting global stars, and Casemiro would add another elite name to a squad already built around marquee quality. More importantly, he would also address a practical need in midfield, bringing experience, defensive awareness and leadership to a side that still leans heavily on attacking brilliance.
LA Galaxy, meanwhile, are also believed to be keen on striking a deal as the reigning Western powerhouse sees Casemiro as the sort of signing who could immediately raise standards in midfield while adding another layer of star power to the club’s project.
What makes the situation especially interesting is the financial opportunity on offer. Casemiro, who joined Manchester United from Real Madrid in a deal worth around £70 million in 2022, will leave for nothing once his contract expires at the end of the season.
That naturally changes the equation as a player who would once have required a major transfer outlay can now be pursued without a fee, making him an attractive proposition for clubs looking to add elite-level experience without committing to a blockbuster transfer package.
There is also said to be interest from Saudi Arabia, but MLS appears to hold genuine appeal for Casemiro at this stage of his career. The competitive environment, growing global relevance of the league and lifestyle factors all make the United States a logical destination.
A move to MLS feels like the right next step for Casemiro, as he is no longer the relentless midfield force he once was, but in the right environment he can still dominate matches with his reading of the game and leadership. If this comes down to Inter Miami or LA Galaxy, both would be getting a player whose presence alone can shift the mentality of a dressing room, and that is often worth more than transfer fees.
