Everton are prepared to offer David Moyes a new contract following his impressive work since returning to the club at the start of 2025.
David Moyes returned to Everton midway through the 2024/25 season. He was brought in to help steady the ship and avoid relegation to the Championship. The veteran manager not only got the job done last season, but has also transformed them from relegation candidates into contenders for European qualification.
According to a report from The Guardian, Everton are now planning to reward Moyes with a new contract because of the exceptional work that he has done since returning to Merseyside. Since the Scot only signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at the start of last year, the Toffees want to secure his future with a new long-term deal.
When he took charge of the club following Sean Dyche’s dismissal, Everton were just a point above the drop zone. After helping them survive the drop, the 62-year-old has transformed them into a much more consistent team this term.
A new deal awaits David Moyes
Everton are currently eighth in the English top flight, and they are just three points off a UEFA Champions League spot. Everton’s new owners, the Friedkin Group, saw Moyes as a short-term fix at the start, but it seems their opinion has changed on the back of the impact he has had.
They are now convinced that the Scottish tatician is the right man to take them forward. The 62-year-old, who managed them in over 500 games during his stint from 2002 to 2013, will soon hold talks with the club over a new deal. While those talks won’t take place until the end of the season, both parties are expected to meet this summer.
The Toffees are confident that Moyes is ready to further extend his stay. While he has played down talks about a new deal, it looks very likely at this stage. With this new deal, the 62-year-old Scot is expected to have greater say in their recruitment, just like he did during his first stint.
