Tottenham consider move for Okan Buruk

Tottenham Hotspur are considering appointing Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk as their new manager ahead of next season.

Tottenham are currently focused on ensuring their survival in the English top flight. While they are hoping Igor Tudor can help them retain their top-flight status, the board has already started planning for the next season. They are on the lookout for a new manager, and according to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, the North London club are considering appointing Okan Buruk.

Buruk’s time at Galatasaray

The Galatasaray legend has done an impressive job managing his former club, and they want him to take charge of Spurs ahead of next season. After managing quite a few clubs from across the globe, Buruk took over as the manager of the Turkish giants in the summer of 2022.

Over the years, he has led them in 195 matches, and he has accumulated an impressive 2.31 points per game. He has done wonders for them across competitions, and his work has caught the attention of a number of clubs.

He has won trophies and managed the likes of Mauro Icardi and Victor Osimhen, and has taken them deep in the Champions League. Not only did they take down Juventus, but the 52-year-old also almost guided them past Liverpool in the round of 16 this season.

Tottenham are keen on the Turkish manager

Buruk has the ability to develop young players, and his tactical approach seems to be an ideal fit for Tottenham, who are in the market for a new manager. Given how things have panned out for Tudor since he took charge of Spurs, the Croatian manager is unlikely to be handed the reins permanently.

The club are already looking at a number of options, and Buruk is one of the names on their shortlist. With his contract running out at the end of the season, he has become a very interesting option for the North London club.

While they do have the likes of Marco Silva and Roberto De Zerbi on their radar, appointing either of them won’t be that straightforward. It might be easier for them to convince the 52-year-old to take charge. However, a lot will depend on how they end the ongoing campaign.
