AC Milan, Juventus and Napoli have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee.
After failing to establish himself at Manchester United, Joshua Zirkzee is all set to secure a move away from the Premier League giants. The Dutch international wants to return to the Serie A, and according to a report from CaughtOffside, AC Milan, Juventus and Napoli have been put on red alert following his decision.
It is a massive boost for all three Italian clubs, who have been keen on his signature for some time. While things didn’t work out for him at Bayern Munich, Zirkzee revived his career at Bologna. Thanks to his impressive performances and massive potential, the Red Devils forked out a significant fee to add him to their ranks in the summer of 2024.
While everyone at Old Trafford had massive expectations from the 24-year-old forward, he has failed to live up to them. Following his struggles last season, he has gone down the pecking order and has hardly featured for them this season.
Zirkzee wants United exit following lack of minutes
So far, he has been involved in a total of 20 games, racked up fewer than 600 minutes and has three goal contributions to his name. While he was hoping Michael Carrick’s arrival would help him revive his United career, things haven’t worked out for him yet again.
While his contract at Old Trafford runs until the summer of 2029, Zirkzee has no intentions of staying at the Manchester-based club. He is ready to part ways with them ahead of next season and is keen on securing a return to the Serie A.
The Red Devils are also ready to sell the 24-year-old, who is frustrated by the lack of minutes. Since the player is not keen on staying in England, Premier League clubs have cooled their interest in him. Meanwhile, Juventus, AC Milan, and Napoli have been put on alert, as he wants a return to the Italian top flight.
However, there is a massive issue as all three clubs want to sign him on loan, while United are looking for a permanent deal that could help them recoup around €35 million. The Italian clubs consider the price tag to be a touch on the higher side. If he does return to Serie A, it will most likely be on loan, but it will be interesting to see if there is a buy obligation/option.
