Crystal Palace are ready to battle Leeds United for Derby County striker Patrick Agyemang in the summer window.
According to Football Insider, Crystal Palace have entered the race for Patrick Agyemang ahead of the summer and will battle Leeds United for the USA attacker. Derby County are expected to demand significantly for their goalscorer, with a £20 million price point being mentioned in the report.
Patrick Agyemang has proved his worth in his first season in England, after scoring 10 goals and providing 4 assists for Derby County in the Championship. His performances have helped the team get closer to a playoff berth, but his rise in stature has already been attracting Premier League interest.
Derby are expecting offers for Agyemang ahead of the summer, as there is plenty of interest in the striker. The Championship side are not overly keen to lose him, as they will ideally want to keep him and build on the current success, but to sell, they are set to demand a ‘bumper price’ for the attacker.
The report states that a £20 million offer might suffice and convince Derby to sell, as the likes of Crystal Palace and Leeds United were keen during January. Both Premier League clubs are still interested, with a battle set to ensue in the race for the USMNT star.
Leeds United are expected to lose Joel Piroe in the summer, which makes them seek a replacement. Moreover, Daniel Farke’s system requires two strikers, meaning they will need plenty of depth in the position, and they would be keen to add the £20 million-rated Championship forward from Derby.
Why Are Crystal Palace Chasing Patrick Agyemang?
Crystal Palace saw a departure for Jean-Philippe Mateta fall through at the last moment after a problem in his AC Milan medical. While they have already signed a replacement for the Frenchman by bringing in Jørgen Strand Larsen, they will lose Mateta and possibly even Eddie Nketiah in the summer.
Agyemang could be a good addition, as well as a cost-effective alternative in an expensive striker market. Palace are ready to battle Leeds United in the race for Agyemang, as the chase for the USMNT star could heat up as the summer window draws closer.
