Manchester United compile four-man midfield shortlist of Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, Amadou Onana

Manchester United are looking to add more quality in the middle of the park, and they have identified four potential options ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to a report from Football Insider, they are looking at Amadou Onana, Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton. It will be interesting to see if they decide to submit an official offer for these players in the coming weeks. There is no doubt that they need more quality in the midfield.

Pete O’Rourke said: “We know the central midfield position is going to be a priority for Man United this summer.

“Casemiro is leaving at the end of season. There’s doubts over Ugarte’s future as well.

“So look, they’re going to need strengthening in that midfield position.

“Onana is a player that they’ve had previous interest in. So I think it’s one of those where he probably still remains on the list, but he’s probably not at the top of it.

“We know all the other names that they’ve been linked with, the likes of Carlos Baleaba, Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson. I think they would all figure above Onana as well.

“And as I said, I don’t think Villa would be very keen on losing or not as well.”

Who will Man United end up signing?

Casemiro will leave the club in the summer, and they will need to replace him properly. They need a specialist defensive midfielder who can win the ball back for the team and protect the defensive unit. Signing a quality defensive midfielder would also allow the creative players to operate with more freedom.

All four players have shown their quality in the Premier League, and there is no doubt that they are ready for the next step. The opportunity to join a big club will be exciting for them. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United can get a deal done.

Onana has done quite well for Aston Villa, and he is a key player for them. They are pushing for Champions League qualification this season, and it remains to be seen whether they are prepared to sanction the Belgian’s departure in the coming months.

Similarly, Baleba is a promising talent with a bright future. He has proved himself with Brighton, and he has the quality to play for a bigger club. He will add some much-needed technical ability and drive in the middle of the park for Manchester United as well.

Wharton is widely regarded as one of the finest young midfielders in European football. He has been a key player for Crystal Palace, and he has helped them win a couple of trophies recently. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can sign him. He will help them control the game from the deep and protect the defensive unit.

Finally, Anderson has been exceptional for Nottingham Forest as well. He has made his Mark with the England national team as well, and it remains to be seen where he ends up.
