Manchester United are eying a move for Middlesbrough star Hayden Hackney in the summer to bolster their midfield ranks.

According to Team Talk, Hayden Hackney is destined to play in the Premier League as Manchester United retain an interest in the exciting midfielder. Middlesbrough are the tpp flight promotion hopefuls, with the midfielder playing a massive role in their rise, as he could be on the move in the summer, with Everton also keen.

Hayden Hackney had attracted plenty of interest well before the January window, as he has shown massive quality in his game that could suit a few Premier League sides. The 23-year-old is yet to experience life in the top flight, but could soon get the chance, especially with Middlesbrough being the Premier League promotion hopefuls.

The Championship side tops the second division, with Hackney playing a huge role in their rise, with 11 goals and assists this season for Middlesbrough. However, with his contract set to expire in 2027, the upcoming summer window could see a host of his suitors chase the midfielder and take him away from the Riverside Stadium.

Everton had been interested ahead of January, as David Moyes wants the club to keep planning for the present and future. The idea of having someone like Hackney could be seen as a smart choice, given how well the midfielder has performed for the Premier League promotion hopefuls.

The Toffees are not alone, as Manchester United were also keen on the midfielder, and it appears they have retained an interest in the 23-year-old ahead of the summer. Middlesbrough priced out Hackney’s suitors during January, which may have seen some of the suitors cool their interest then.

Manchester United to sign Hayden Hackney?

Manchester United are set to reshape their midfield in the summer, with the position the club’s topmost priority over other areas. The idea of Hackney might suit their cause, given the player has shown plenty of promise so far, but the lack of top-flight experience might be a concern. However, the Red Devils are planning on more than one midfield signing, which includes the likes of Carlos Baleba from Brighton.

Incidentally, they are also eager to explore the market for a player who could have a big upside in the future coming from the Championship. For instance, they are interested in Adam Wharton, a player who came through the second tier to make a mark with Crystal Palace, as Manchester United could see. similar upside with Hackney.
