Manchester United have tabled an offer worth €40 million for Real Madrid’s defensive mainstay Eder Militao.
A few seasons back, Eder Militao was considered one of the best defenders in the world, but multiple ACL injuries have derailed his career. Over the last few seasons, the Brazilian international has spent a significant amount of time on the sidelines.
Despite that, the interest in the Real Madrid mainstays’ services remains sky high. According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester United are keen on signing the 28-year-old, as they look to reinforce their backline. The Red Devils have already put forward an offer worth €40 million, as they try to bring the South American star to Manchester ahead of next season.
After coming up the ranks at Sao Paulo and making a name for himself at FC Porto, Militao joined Los Blancos in the summer of 2019. He has gone on to establish himself as one of their mainstays and has won every major title with the Spanish giants.
But the last few seasons haven’t gone according to plan for him, as he has struggled to stay fit. While his contract runs until the summer of 2028, Real Madrid are is in no rush to negotiate Militao’s departure; they are open to offers amidst interest from Manchester United.
Real Madrid to consider United’s offer for Militao
The Red Devils want to reinforce their backline with a world-class, proven defender, and the Brazilian seems to be a perfect fit for their project. They want someone who has enough experience and can make an immediate impact. As a result, they have knocked on Real Madrid’s door with a €40 million offer.
The offer hasn’t gone unnoticed in the Real Madrid offices. The board has been forced to sit down and think about it. While Militao has done wonders for them, his injury struggles could force them to consider a potential departure.
His departure could help free up space on their wage bill and allow them to bring in a younger replacement. While it’s not an unrefutable offer, it has certainly forced Los Blancos to think hard about Militao’s future.
