Arsenal ar erepoeteldy interested in Swedish full-back Daniel Svensson along side other teams, with Borussia Dortmund sweating on the left-back’s future.
According to Sport Bild, Daniel Svensson is attracting interest from a number of clubs, including Arsenal. The report states there’s a chance Borussia Dortmund might have no choice but to sell the defender if the circumstances dictate such an outcome, with the Gunners keeping close tabs.
Daniel Svensson has made a big impact since his move to Borussia Dortmund in January 2025. He joined from Nordsjælland on an initial loan switch, but the move was made permanent thereafter following an impressive time with the club.
Niko Kovac certainly views him as a key part of his squad, but Dortmund are sweating over the futures of Svensson as well as other defenders, namely Nico Schlotterbeck. There’s a chance that, like most summers, some players might seek a new challenge, with the Premier League looking increasingly like the favourite destination.
Leeds United are mentioned as a key suitor for the highly-rated full-back, although the links to Arsenal make this chase more interesting. The Gunners are always on the lookout for talented defenders who would improve their side, although they are well-stacked in the left-back department.
Piero Hincapie, who signed from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer on an initial loan deal, is expected to stay here beyond his spell. They also have Riccardo Calafiori, while Myles Lewis-Skelly is the backup option for Mikel Arteta. Quite unsure why the Spanish boss wants another left-back, but he always has the knack of collecting defenders for his squad.
Daniel Svensson to Arsenal?
The links make it a bit more interesting with regard to the chase, but there are considerable doubts whether Arsenal will be seriously considering a move. The highly-rated full-back will reportedly cost around the €30 million mark, something that should not be an issue for the Gunners.
Arsenal were also linked with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown earlier, which may hint at a possible left-back addition. Should the club target a move for Svensson, there might be some changes ahead that Arteta might have envisaged with regard to his squad building with the defence, meaning one of the existing names could depart.
