Sandro Tonali, family happy at Newcastle United amid Arsenal links

Sandro Tonali and his family remain happy at Tyneside following late links with a move away to Arsenal on deadline day.

According to The Sun, Sandro Tonali and his family are reportedly happy at Newcastle United following late links with a move away on deadline day. Arsenal were the club linked with an enquiry for the influential Italian midfielder, who might revisit the idea of a departure in the summer, depending on the circumstances then, although for now, he is settled at Tyneside.

In what was a near-dead transfer deadline day as it was for the whole of January, the news about Sandro Tonali did spark some excitement in the market. Arsenal reportedly failed with an initial approach on deadline day for the Italian midfielder, with suggestions that the Newcastle United star’s agent offered his client to the Gunners, as per David Ornstein.

The links were then rebuffed and rubbished from Newcastle United’s end, as they would have closed all doors over a move had the Gunners made a bid for the Italian. Eddie Howe views Tonali as a key part of his squad, with the club showing no intention of listening to any enquiries for the star who joined them in a £55 million deal from AC Milan back in the summer of 2023.

He was subsequently banned for 10 months following his part in a betting scandal, with the club managing to support him throughout the difficult period. Tonali is grateful to the club for that, as he and his family remain happy at Tyneside following the late links to Arsenal.

For now, he has no intention of leaving Newcastle United, and that remains the club’s intention about his immediate or long-term future. However, should the Magpies fail to qualify for the Champions League, there is a discussion to be had about the £55 million star’s future, although his current stance is that he is happy at Tyneside.

Sandro Tonali to consider Newcastle United future in the summer?

Tonali could potentially consider his future at St. James’ Park in the summer, especially if Newcastle United fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. He already has widespread interest, including that from Liverpool, while back in Italy, Serie A giants Juventus also admire the £55 million star.

Newcastle United will ensure they get the maximum value for one of the best midfielders in the world. The report states, the Magpies might demand £100 million or more should the player show a desire to take up a new challenge, and should that happen, there will be a handful of teams, including Arsenal, in the mix.
