David Moyes’s Everton will have to wait until next summer to sign Genoa defensive sensation Brooke Norton-Cuffy.
Brooke Norton-Cuffy’s future was a massive talking point throughout the recently concluded winter transfer window. He had multiple offers on his table from clubs across Europe, but the young full-back has decided to continue at Genoa for now.
According to a report from Sky Sports, Norton-Cuffy has decided to wait until the end of the season before considering a move away from Genoa. Everton, who were keen on signing him in the winter window, will now have to wait until the summer before making a move.
Brooke Norton-Cuffy was a part of the Arsenal academy in his youth career. The 22-year-old full-back went up the ranks at some pace, but could not break into the first team. After multiple loan spells away from the club, the youngster ended up joining Genoa in search of a more prominent role.
Norton-Cuffy decided against leaving Genoa in the winter transfer window. What next?
Brooke Norton-Cuffy has only gone from strength to strength since moving to Italy back in 2024. The 22-year-old full-back has established himself as one of their mainstays, and his impressive performances have resulted in a lot of interest.
Three Serie A clubs and Everton are believed to be very keen on securing the youngster’s signature. The Toffees were looking to add more depth to their backline, and Moyes felt the 22-year-old English defender could be an ideal fit for his system as well as their project amid Seamus Coleman’s advancing age.
However, the Merseyside outfit will have to wait until the summer transfer window before they can make an attempt to secure his services. The player’s preference has always been to wait until the summer to consider his options.
After considering all the opportunities that were presented to him during the recently concluded transfer window, the 22-year-old Englishman decided to stay at Genoa to prioritise his game time. It certainly seems to be a sensible move, as winter moves often do not give you the time needed to adjust to a different league and style of play.
