Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are front-runners in the pursuit of Watford attacking sensation Mamadou Doumbia.
Mamadou Doumbia has only gone from strength to strength since joining Watford, and his impressive rise hasn’t gone unnoticed. His consistent performances in the Championship have placed him on the radar of multiple top clubs in the Premier League.
According to a report from AfricaFoot, Newcastle United are leading the race for the signature of Doumbia. The Magpies are constantly on the lookout for young players who can help them in the long run, and they are confident about the Mali international being the next big thing.
The 19-year-old forward was a part of the Black Stars setup before joining Watford in the summer of 2024. He hasn’t looked back since moving to England. While he spent the majority of his time on the bench in the first half of his debut campaign, he did eventually force his way into the manager’s plans.
He has taken his game to the next level this season and even has four goal contributions in his 18 league outings. While he prefers playing as a number nine, the teenager is comfortable enough to feature anywhere in attack.
