Inter Milan eyeing Emiliano Martinez swoop

Inter Milan are reportedly hoping to sign 33-year-old Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa this year.

As per a report by Sky Sport Italia journalist Luca Bendoni, Emiliano Martinez is the subject of interest from Inter Milan. The Serie A giants have “begun exploring the conditions” of a move in the summer transfer window.

The South American shot-stopper has been linked with a move away from the West Midlands club in recent months. The World Cup winner was close to leaving them in the summer transfer window, but he ended up staying. It seems that the Serie A club could now look to provide him with an exit route.

Yann Sommer is 37, and Inter Milan are seeking a quality replacement beyond the 2025/26 season. Martinez could prove to be the ideal acquisition. The Argentine international is at the peak of his career, and he could be a very important player for the Italian club over the next few years.

The 33-year-old will be attracted to the idea of joining a big club in the coming months. Martinez has proven himself at Aston Villa over the years, and he deserves to compete at a higher level. He has been excellent for his country as well. The veteran goalkeeper has helped Argentina win the World Cup and Copa America. He will now look to win trophies at the club level.

Inter Milan move would be ideal for Martinez

Inter Milan could provide him Emiliano Martinez the platform to fight for Serie A titles and the UEFA Champions League. It will be interesting to see if they can secure an agreement with Aston Villa in the coming months. The West Midlands outfit are currently third in the Premier League table and is fighting for Champions League qualification.

The Villans have already signed Marco Bizot as a potential replacement, and they are unlikely to stand in the way of the Argentina international. It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can finalise an agreement quickly. Convincing the experienced shot-stopper to join Inter Milan should not be too difficult.

Inter Milan are one of the biggest clubs in Italy, and joining them would be an exciting challenge for the experienced South American goalkeeper. Sommer has been excellent for the Nerazzurri, and they need a quality player to replace them. Martinez has also been one of the best goalkeepers in English football in recent years. There is no doubt that he has the credentials to succeed at the Italian club.
