Hull City in talks to sign Toby Collyer

Championship outfit Hull City have knocked on Manchester United’s door to sign Toby Collyer on loan until the end of the season.

Hull City are looking to bolster their squad in the ongoing transfer window, as they want to increase their chances of securing promotion to the English top flight. They seek more depth in midfield, and according to Fabrizio Romano, the Tigers are interested in acquiring the services of Toby Collyer.

They are already in talks with Manchester United to sign the 22-year-old defensive midfielder on loan until the end of the season. While his loan spell at West Brom Albion didn’t really go according to plan, Hull are still willing to bet on him.

Collyer joined United’s youth setup in the summer of 2022 from Brighton. While he got promoted to the Red Devils’ first team in the summer of 2024, he has had very limited game time at the senior level.

Since Ruben Amorim didn’t have him as an important part of his plans, United ended up sending him out on loan at West Brom last summer. Unfortunately, the move didn’t work out for him as he only made 12 appearances and racked up 253 minutes before picking up a calf injury.

Collyer could be heading for another loan

The 22-year-old has returned to his parent club, but there is no clarity over his future at Old Trafford. As a result, clubs in the lower divisions are eyeing another loan move. Hull City, who are currently seventh in the Championship and are pushing for a play-off spot, are interested in his services.

They seek more quality and depth in the centre of the park and feel Collyer could help their cause. They have already enquired about his availability. Hull have held talks with United regarding a potential loan deal until the end of the season.

Since Ruben Amorim is no longer at the club, and the Red Devils are pushing to sign a caretaker until the end of the season, they are waiting for the new manager before taking a call over Collyer’s future.
