West Ham United dealt blow in Eddie Nketiah pursuit

West Ham United have been linked with a move for 26-year-old Crystal Palace striker Eddie Nketiah in recent weeks.

According to a report from talkSPORT, West Ham United have been hoping to sign Eddie Nketiah. However, they have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of the player. The 26-year-old striker has picked up a hamstring injury, and he is set to be sidelined for a few weeks.

It will be interesting to see if West Ham are prepared to take a gamble and sign the player, regardless of the injury blow. However, they may not need to do that, as they are closing in on signing Pablo from Gil Vicente.

It is no secret that West Ham need to improve the attacking unit. The East London outfit have not been able to find the back of the net regularly, and they need someone who can score goals for them. The 26-year-old has shown his quality in the Premier League, and there is no doubt that he has the ability to do well at the London club.

Nketiah has not been a regular starter for Crystal Palace, and moving away from the London club could be ideal for him. The Englishman is at the peak of his career, and he needs to play regularly. Sitting on the bench at Selhurst Park is unlikely to benefit him. The opportunity to move to West Ham could have been ideal had he not picked up an injury.

West Ham need quality signings

The Hammers are currently fighting for survival in the Premier League, and they will look to stay up. They are too good to play in the EFL Championship. They will look to bounce back strongly during the second half of the season, and they need quality players for that to happen. Signing the former Arsenal striker could have proven to be a wise decision for them.

If the injury was not serious, the gamble could have been worth taking after Niclas Fullkrug’s loan move to AC Milan. Nevertheless, as iterated earlier, with Pablo closing in on arriving from Gil Vicente, West Ham do not need to consider signing Nketiah from Crystal Palace in the winter transfer window.
