Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United are all set to sanction the departure of their skipper, Bruno Fernandes, in the upcoming transfer window.
Bruno Fernandes’s future has been a big talking point ever since he gave an explosive interview where he claimed that the Red Devils were ready to sell him during the last summer transfer window.
According to a report from Football Insider, Manchester United have made a surprising decision regarding Bruno Fernandes’s future. The Red Devils are ready to sell the 31-year-old in January after private discussions behind the scenes.
Fernandes has been one of the standout performers for United since joining them at the start of 2020 from Sporting CP in a deal worth £47 million. Over the years, he has featured in a total of 308 matches and has contributed towards 196 goals.
The Manchester United skipper has made an impressive start to the season, with 12 goal contributions in his 17 league outings. While Bruno Fernandes has been doing wonders for them on the pitch and they had no intentions of selling him mid-season, things have taken a turn following his recent interview.
Fernandes to be sold in January?
Bruno Fernandes recently went public and revealed that Manchester United wanted to sell him to Saudi giants Al-Hilal last summer, and it certainly did not go down well with the club. Once again, he is subject to strong interest from clubs in the Middle East and the Red Devils are now seen as ready to sanction his departure.
The report suggests there is a very high chance of the Portuguese international leaving the club in the coming weeks. While the hamstring injury that he picked up against Aston Villa, a move could still go through.
Following his interview, Manchester United are now ready to cash in on Bruno Fernandes and reinvest the money to bolster their squad as a whole. He reportedly has a £52.5 million release clause for clubs outside of the Premier League.
While the Portuguese international remains one of their best players, the next few transfer windows will be United’s final opportunities to raise a significant fee from his transfer. As a result, they have decided to move on from him.
