Manchester United are reportedly keen on Evan Ndicka, with exploratory talks held with Roma during discussions for attacker Joshua Zirkzee.
According to AS Roma Live, Manchester United could use AS Roma’s interest in Joshua Zirkzee to explore a move for defender Evan Ndicka. The defender is a key star for Gian Piero Gasperini this season, although the Red Devils are realistically only looking at a summer deal for the 26-year-old Serie A defender.
Manchester United have a few key decisions ahead of the January transfer window, and there is a possibility some of their current stars could depart the club. One of them could be Joshua Zirkzee, who has been given limited game time this season under Ruben Amorim.
The Dutch attacker is being tipped to make a return to Serie A, and some reports state he is widely expected to join AS Roma next month. The Italian giants are in title contention this season, and even though a top-four charge is seen as a realistic objective, they would still need fresh faces through the door in January.
Manchester United and AS Roma have reportedly held talks over a move, and it could accelerate in the coming days. The Red Devils have also explored the possibility of signing Evan Ndicka as part of any deal for Joshua Zirkzee, although any move for the 26-year-old Serie A defender is seen as ideal next summer.
Yet, Manchester United reportedly held exploratory talks to figure out if the defender would be made available ahead of the January window, if possible. Gian Piero Gasperini considers him key to his plans for the season, and it will be a blow to sell the 26-year-old defender midway through the season.
Will Manchester United pursue Ndicka?
AS Roma are seemingly closing in on a move for Zirkzee, and that might come in the form of a loan deal with a conditional buy obligation. Should the Giallorossi end up paying the desired fee to Manchester United for the Dutchman, the Red Devils could explore a move for Ndicka in the summer.
It would be interesting to see how much Roma would demand for the player, who arrived on a free transfer in the summer of 2023. It is the 26-year-old defender’s third season with the club, and he has been an important part of their plans, as Manchester United would seek a player of his profile next summer, as there’s no immediate need to add to the defence.
