Ruben Amorim insists Kobbie Mainoo is the future of Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has been linked with a move away from the Premier League club in recent months.

Kobbie Mainoo has struggled for regular opportunities at the Premier League club, and he needs to find a suitable destination for himself. Sitting on the bench at Manchester United will not benefit him. It would be detrimental to his development. Several high-profile clubs have shown interest in the English international.

Naturally, he has been linked with several clubs, including Napoli, in recent times. It will be interesting to see if the player is looking to push for a move away from the club during the January transfer window. Recently, his brother fuelled further speculations surrounding his future by wearing a t-shirt during a game, featuring the message “Free Kobbie Mainoo”.

It is clear that the player has his heart set on a move away from the club. However, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has now claimed that the midfielder is the future of the club and he needs to be patient. The Portuguese manager claimed that Mainoo will get his opportunities at the right time.

“Kobbie Mainoo will have the opportunity he has all the time,” Amorim stated in his press conference via Sky Sports. “He played in different positions – we talked about the position of Casemiro, he can do that. If you play with a three, he can play like we did in the last game with the position of Mason Mount, he can play there.

“He is going to be the future of Manchester United, that is my feeling, he just needs to wait for his chance and everything can change in football in two days.”

With the World Cup coming up in 2026, Kobbie Mainoo will want to be a part of the English national team. He cannot expect to do that by sitting on the bench at Manchester United. It will be interesting to see if he is willing to accept the message from the manager and wait for his chance.

Mainoo is a tremendous talent, and he could have his pick of clubs if he wants to move. If Manchester United manage to convince the 20-year-old English international to stay, it would be a major victory for them.
