Liverpool are interested in signing the Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi during the January transfer window.
They were very close to signing the 25-year-old England International at the start of the season, but the move did not go through eventually. They are expected to return for him next month.
There have been rumours that they have a gentleman’s agreement with the player and they have an advantage in the transfer race. However, TEAMtalk are now reporting that no such agreement exists between the player and the Premier League champions.
Several clubs are interested in selling the Crystal Palace star and it will be an open race. It will be interesting to see where the defender ends up.
The source told TEAMtalk: “There is absolutely no agreement with Liverpool or any club.
“That process is ongoing and will accelerate into January. We know Liverpool want him that, has not changed, but they are not alone.
“Marc’s situation is that following the summer [and the collapse of his Liverpool move], it was a clean slate for everyone. Marc, for his part, is concentrating on Palace and doing a wonderful job this season.”
Liverpool need someone like Marc Guehi
Liverpool are in desperate need of a quality central defender. Ibrahima Konate will be out of contract at the end of the season, and he has not signed an extension with the club. They need to replace him, and Guehi could be the ideal acquisition for them.
He is one of the best defenders in the league right now, and he could make an immediate impact at Liverpool. It remains to be seen whether they can win the race for his signature. The 25-year-old will want to compete at a high level and play for the biggest clubs in the world. Liverpool will be able to provide him with that opportunity. They have been fighting for major trophies regularly, and they managed to win the league title last season.
Liverpool have had a disappointing season so far, and they will be desperate to bounce back strongly. Signing the right players in January could help them get the season back on track. A quality defender like Guehi could make a huge difference for them over the next few months.
