Intermediaries working in background for Real Madrid u-turn in Ibrahima Konate chase

Intermediaries are reportedly working in the background, which would indicate a Real Madrid U-turn in the chase of Ibrahima Konate.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Real Madrid could perform a dramatic U-turn in the chase of Ibrahima Konate as intermediaries are reportedly working to revive a move to the Santiago Bernabeu. The centre-back is out of contract at the end of the season, with Liverpool still working to keep the Frenchman at Anfield.

Real Madrid are certain to sign a big defensive name at the end of the season, with a host of names already being discussed in media reports. Florentino Perez has a glorious opportunity to sign at least one of three top centre-backs on a free transfer, with the list comprising Ibrahima Konate, Marc Guehi and Dayot Upamecano.

Bayern Munich are working hard to keep the Frenchman at the club, while Guehi might be the most realistic target given that Real Madrid have already ruled out a move for Konate. The Liverpool star, out of contract next summer, does have plenty of suitors for his signature, with Inter Milan one of those interested.

For weeks, Real Madrid have not indicated their willingness to re-enter the conversation for Ibrahima Konate, until now. Intermediaries connected to the defender are reportedly working in the background to make a move to the Bernabeu possible, as the Frenchman was one of the favourites to play there from next season onwards.

Konate, who joined Liverpool in a £36 million deal back in 2021, has been instrumental for the Reds as they won the Premier League title last season. However, his contractual situation has given rise to speculation over his future, and there is a distinct possibility he could leave at the end of the season.

Liverpool to keep Ibrahima Konate?

Liverpool are still working to keep Konate at the club, and the idea of Real Madrid ruling out a move has boosted their hopes. There is still no decision from the Liverpool mainstay on his next move, as there’s a big possibility he will stay at Anfield.

Much will depend on the nature of the contract offer from Liverpool, and Ibrahima Konate will have plenty of top suitors chasing for his signature. However, a stay at Liverpool is very much possible, as his future will be clear in the coming period.
