The centre-back is out of contract at the end of the season, with Liverpool still working to keep the Frenchman at Anfield.
Real Madrid are certain to sign a big defensive name at the end of the season, with a host of names already being discussed in media reports. Florentino Perez has a glorious opportunity to sign at least one of three top centre-backs on a free transfer, with the list comprising Ibrahima Konate, Marc Guehi and Dayot Upamecano.
