Manchester United chiefs respond to Bruno Fernandes interview

Manchester United chiefs hit back at skipper Bruno Fernandes after his explosive interview, where he claimed he was being forced out.

Bruno Fernandes’ future was a massive talking point throughout the summer, as he was constantly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League. Clubs from the Middle East were ready to fork out a fortune to sign the Portuguese international, but he eventually ended up staying at Manchester United.

Just when things were starting to click for the Red Devils under Ruben Amorim, Fernandes’ explosive interview with Canal 11 has shaken things up. In his interview with the Portuguese channel, the former Sporting CP star claimed the club were looking to push him out during the summer. United’s chiefs have finally responded to Fernandes’ interview as reported by TEAMtalk.

The 31-year-old remains one of their most important players, and he is certainly living up to the expectations of the fans this season as well. In his 16 league outings, Fernandes has five goals and seven assists. While everything seems to be going fine for him on the pitch, his interview hasn’t gone down well with the owners.

During the last summer window, Saudi giants Al-Hilal knocked on the doors of United to sign him. While Amorim wasn’t keen on parting ways with him, and even he wanted to continue at the club, the Red Devils were ready to cash in on him if he wished to make the switch.

United’s response to Fernandes’ claims

His claims have left the United owners and hierarchy shocked. They are annoyed by Fernandes’ comments, where he suggested that he felt he was being forced to move to the Middle East. The United chiefs have insisted that they were not the ones who invited offers from Saudi Arabia.

They have hit back at the Portuguese international with claims suggesting that the player’s entourage were the ones that led talks with the Middle East clubs.

While the report suggests this interview won’t have an impact on his immediate future, it can certainly have a big say on whether he continues at the club beyond this season. They could certainly now look to cash in on him next summer, if clubs from Saudi Arabia return for his signature.
