Aston Villa are not interested in selling Lamare Bogarde amid interest from Brighton & Hove Albion ahead of January, as Unai Emery views the Dutchman as a key star.
According to Football Insider, Brighton & Hove Albion could suffer a blow in their chase of Lamare Bogarde as Aston Villa are uninterested in selling the 21-year-old utility man. The midfielder has played a key part for the club this season with a variety of roles in the squad, as Unai Emery views him as a key part of his plans.
Aston Villa are having a phenomenal season that nobody envisaged, given how bad they were in the opening months of the campaign. As things stand, Unai Emery’s side are third in the Premier League as well as in the UEFA Europa League, and the Spanish manager is hopeful he can keep most of his key stars fit for as long as possible.
With games coming thick and fast, Aston Villa do not necessarily have the kind of squad quality depth that would scream for a title challenge. While finishing in the top four will be a priority, winning the Europa League could also become imperative, especially given Emery’s pedigree in the competition.
Ahead of the January transfer window, Emery will hope the club signs quality reinforcements to improve the depth, while he will want the core of this team to stay put. Some of them include rotational players like the young Lamare Bogarde, with the 21-year-old utility man proving himself very useful overall this season.
Bogarde has not been a regular starter, but a useful option for Emery as the 21-year-old utility man can play in multiple positions, such as in midfield or even at right back. Emery wants to keep the Dutchman beyond the January window, as he also sees a large upside in the future, as Bogarde could certainly become a key star for the club in the next few years.
Will Aston Villa sell Lamare Bogarde?
Amid interest from Brighton & Hove Albion, Aston Villa are not interested in selling Bogarde ahead of the January window. The Seagulls are always on the lookout for talent that may have a solid upside for the future, as the 21-year-old utility man certainly falls in that category.
Brighton had been looking at some midfielders in the market, with the likes of Lucien Agoume linked earlier, but it may not be an option anymore. The idea of keeping Lamare Bogarde might have been part of their long-term thinking of developing key young stars, but Aston Villa are unlikely to entertain offers.
