Manchester United are not signing Mouhamed Dabo, as they are content with the current options in the position at the Under-18 level.
According to Christopher Michel, Mouhamed Dabo is no longer a target for Manchester United despite their extensive interest in the Senegal teenager. The Red Devils had set sights on the 17-year-old African prodigy as a potential option for their Under-18s, but they are currently content with the existing options at that level.
Manchester United have been focused on recruiting young stars for their youth and developmental sides, as they are keen to bring a bright future to the club. The Red Devils have been active in the youth market over the last few years, having signed some talented young stars in the process.
They had their set sights on another such star, as Senegalese teenager Mouhamed Dabo was firmly on their list. The 17-year-old African prodigy was also on trial for a period at Carrington, as Manchester United had him in their sights since last summer.
While they were serious about signing Dabo at one stage, it appears they have moved on from the hunt. The 17-year-old African prodigy has since joined Croatian second division side NK Kustosija, with the club confirming the signing.
The decision from Manchester United on Dabo comes after the club assessed their existing options at the Under-18 level, and are currently satisfied with what they have in the position. Dabo impressed the club on multiple occasions, and even at the U-17 World Cup in Qatar recently, as a move seemed imminent at one stage.
What are Manchester United’s options over Mouhamed Dabo?
Manchester United recently signed Colombian teenager Cristian Orozco, who will join the club in the summer of 2026, while they have also placed stock in the ability of Jim Thwaites. Both those names are considered the main reasons for the Red Devils to back out of the race for Dabo.
With Manchester United looking to build for the future, missing out on Mouhamed Dabo will be seen as a good decision for the benefit of the existing players in his position. However, they might continue their search for talent in other areas of the squad.
