Bayern Munich could enter Bruno Fernandes chase

German giants Bayern Munich could enter the race for the signature of Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Bayern Munich could make a move for Bruno Fernandes next summer. The German giants seek more quality in the final third, and the Manchester United skipper could prove to be a valuable addition to their squad.

Fernandes made a name for himself at Sporting CP before joining the Red Devils at the start of 2020. He has only gone from strength to strength since and has been ever-present in United’s starting XI. Over the years, the Portuguese international has featured in a total of 298 matches and has contributed towards 186 goals (100 goals, 86 assists).

The 31-year-old still has two years left on his deal at Old Trafford, and there is an option to extend it by another 12 months. However, the United skipper’s future has been a big talking point in recent seasons. There was significant interest in him from the Middle East during the summer, but Fernandes turned down a move to Saudi Arabia.

While clubs from the Saudi Pro League retain interest in him, he doesn’t seem keen on leaving Europe anytime soon. Fernandes could choose to continue at United, or he could end up joining another big club next summer.

Dean Jones’ take on Fernandes’ future

While speaking about his future, TEAMtalk insider, Dean Jones said: “It now seems pretty clear that Bruno does not have much interest in a Saudi transfer, so let’s see if anything else opens up for him.

“Man Utd know that this is not going to be a case of selling him for mega money.

“Realistically, there seems to be a feeling that his value next summer would be somewhere around £40m based on his status right now.

“Maybe he does continue to see things through with Man Utd. Cashing in at that level may not be worth it.

“But I would not rule out the potential of a big club on the continent coming in for him to ask the question and turn his head..

“It is not that long ago that Real Madrid had interest in him, but did not follow through.

“He may not be the prime target as a central midfielder as of right now, but we know that is a position they are looking to strengthen next summer, and if other targets prove to be too expensive or unattainable for other reasons, then it is the sort of thing that might start to open up.

“Bayern Munich could always come back into the picture as well.

“For now, the player is going to completely focus on his job of helping Man Utd qualify for Europe this season.”

Fernandes is an integral part of United’s first team, and ideally, they would love to have him around for a few more years. But if he were to leave the club, the Red Devils would ideally like to see him join a Saudi club in a big-money move.

Bayern Munich could push for Fernandes

Since a mega money move is off the table, United consider £40 million to be a more realistic value of the 31-year-old. Bayern Munich could emerge as a potential destination for the Portuguese attacking midfielder.

The German giants seek more creativity in the final third, and an experienced campaigner like Fernandes could do wonders for them. The Bundesliga champions have a long-standing interest in him, and they could revive their interest next summer if he is made available.

For now, Fernandes remains fully committed to giving his all for Manchester United. However, the prospect of joining Bayern Munich and competing for major honours could prove too tempting to turn down.
