Florian Wirtz have privately claimed he will win Ballon d’Or in future

Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz has had a difficult start to life in the Premier League, but he remains a tremendous talent with a bright future. 

The German international midfielder’s former coach, Markus Daun, has now revealed that the 22-year-old has always dreamed of winning the Ballon d’Or one day.

It will be interesting to see if he can get back to his best and establish himself as one of the best players in the Premier League. There is no doubt that he has the talent and the technical attributes to do well in English football. He is still getting to grips with the Premier League, and he will only improve with coaching and experience.

His former coach Markus Daun said to Sky Sports: “I asked him in a meeting about his career goals, and all the guys from the team said, ‘Oh, I will be German championship winner this year and I will be in the first in the starting 11.’ Florian said, ‘I will win the Ballon d’Or in future’.

Wirtz reacted: “I was saying this every day when I was younger”

Daun added: “I said okay. Normally, I would say ok please stay realistic but in this case I said ok go your way and you can achieve it.”

Liverpool have paid a lot of money for him, and naturally, he is under a lot of pressure. He is expected to deliver every week, but he is still adapting to his new surroundings. He has shown his quality in bits and parts so far, and he will look to perform at a high level consistently.

He will need to improve massively in order to establish himself as a key player for the club and push for the Ballon d’Or in future. There is no doubt that he has the talent to win the prestigious award in future. If he manages to adapt to English football in the coming weeks, he could make a huge difference for Liverpool going forward.

Liverpool have looked toothless in the attack at times this season, and they will need his creativity and ingenuity in the final third.
