Barcelona ready to sell Marc Casado for €30 million

West Ham United can reportedly sign 22-year-old Barcelona midfield sensation Marc Casado for just €30 million next summer.

According to a report from Spanish outfit Fichajes, Barcelona are open to a potential departure of Marc Casado. The Catalan giants could look to cash in on their academy graduate next summer, provided the right offer arrives. They would be happy to sanction his sale for €30 million, amid interest from West Ham.

Casado came up the ranks at some pace. He got promoted to the first team in the summer of 2024. The Spaniard enjoyed an impressive debut campaign as he was involved in 36 matches and even contributed towards seven goals.

With Frenkie de Jong struggling with an injury, he was a regular starter under Hansi Flick. However, he lost his place in the team following a ligament injury, which handed the Dutch playmaker an opportunity to reclaim his spot in the starting XI.

While Flick rates him very highly, the 22-year-old is not a prominent figure in the team. Frenkie de Jong and Pedri are preferred in the double pivot role, while Fermin Lopez and Dani Olmo are the two options for the number ten. Once Gavi is back, Casado might go further down the pecking order.

The Spanish international certainly has a lot of potential, but if he continues to sit on the bench, it might hamper his progress as a player. While his contract at the Catalan club runs until the summer of 2028, Casado will have to make a big call regarding his future next summer.

Casado to leave Barcelona?

The 22-year-old will have to decide whether he wants to continue fighting for his dream to be one of the mainstays at Barcelona or join a team where he can be a prominent figure from the start. The Catalan giants certainly seem interested in cashing in on him.

The sporting directorate sees his sale as an opportunity to ease some financial pressure and make room for potential new signings. While Marc Casado’s value has gone down from around €30 million to €25 million, Flick’s team have made it public that they would be willing to negotiate his departure if an offer worth around €30 million arrives.

However, Barcelona are in no rush to offload him, and they won’t let him leave unless their demands are met. West Ham could benefit from Barcelona’s stance. The Hammers seek more quality in the centre of the park, and Casado could prove to be a great acquisition for both the short and the long run.

The East London club have already made informal inquiries as they look to secure his services. While they can certainly meet the Catalan giants’ demands, it will be interesting to see if they can convince Casado to make the move.
