Ruben Neves is keen on a Premier League return, with Manchester United and Tottenham alerted to his potential availability.
According to a report from TBR, Ruben Neves could end up securing a return to the Premier League in 2026. The Portuguese international thinks he has unfinished business in England, and multiple top clubs have been sounded out already.
Manchester United and Tottenham are two Premier League giants that have been kept informed about the 28-year-old’s situation at Al-Hilal. With his contract in the Middle East running out at the end of this season, a move in 2026 looks very likely.
After coming up the ranks and making a name for himself at FC Porto, Neves had a successful six-year-long spell at Wolves. He made a total of 253 appearances for them before joining Al-Hilal in a club record deal back in 2023.
He has had an impressive spell in the Middle East. The former Wolves skipper won a league and cup double with Al-Hilal in the 2023/24 season. While he has enjoyed his time in that part of the world, it seems his time in Saudi Arabia is coming to an end.
The Portuguese international has entered the final year of his deal, and he is keen on securing a return to the Premier League. He is only 28 and believes that he is only entering his prime years as a footballer. Neves feels he has some unfinished business in England and is pushing for a return.
Since he will only have six months left on his deal in January, it will be interesting to see if Al-Hilal will consider a mid-season departure or if they will let him run down his deal and leave for free. While a summer move looks more likely, a winter exit cannot be ruled out.
Neves to return to England
A number of clubs have been approached to make them aware of his availability. While there is no shortage of interest in him, Manchester United and Tottenham have emerged as potential destinations for the former Wolves skipper.
Both clubs have been informed about his situation, and they certainly seem interested in his signature. They are looking for a new defensive midfielder, and Neves can certainly help their cause. Amidst uncertainty around Kobbie Mainoo’s future and Casemiro not getting any younger, Neves’s arrival can certainly help the Red Devils.
Meanwhile, Thomas Frank wants more competition in the centre of the park. He wants to strengthen his double pivot, and Neves could be a great addition to their squad, given the amount of experience he has of playing in the English top flight. Both clubs were spoken to during the summer, and they are being kept informed ahead of a potential move in 2026.
