Tottenham could offer €80 million for Nico Paz

Tottenham Hotspur could break the bank and fork out €80 million to sign Como attacking sensation Nico Paz.

Tottenham Hotspur have been on the lookout for a new number nine since the start of the summer. They have already failed to sign two of their top targets and have now shifted their attention towards Como’s Nico Paz.

According to a report from Fichajes, Spurs are willing to fork out €80 million to sign the former Real Madrid sensation. They are preparing an offer that could force Como to reconsider cashing in on the 20-year-old.

Paz came up the ranks at Real Madrid. He was a part of their B team during the 2023/24 season before making the move to Como in search of regular first-team action. In his debut campaign in Italy, the attacking midfielder was involved in a total of 35 league games, and he ended up contributing towards 15 goals.

He played a key role in Como’s rise under Cesc Fabregas and helped them cement their spot in the Italian top flight. His exceptional performances have caught the eye of multiple top clubs, and Tottenham are one of them.

With James Maddison out injured, Spurs are desperately looking for a new number ten. They initially went after the signature of Morgan Gibbs-White, but he ended up signing a contract extension at Nottingham.

Tottenham are pushing for Paz’s signature

The North London club then shifted their attention towards Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze. While they were on the verge of signing him, Arsenal hijacked the deal. As a result, Spurs are still in the market for a new attacking midfielder, and Paz is quite high on their list of targets.

They have already initiated a move to sign the 20-year-old, who can pretty much feature anywhere in attack apart from his preferred number ten role. Tottenham are preparing an €80 million offer to sign Paz before the end of the transfer window.

Real Madrid could cause problems for Spurs

While Como might be tempted to sell for such a big fee, Spurs could still face a major stumbling block in his former club, Real Madrid. Los Blancos sold him last summer but included multiple buy-back clauses and preferential rights in their agreement with Como.

As a result, the move will only go through if the Spanish giants are willing to let him go permanently. They believe he could play a role in their first team in the future, which is why Spurs might struggle to sign him despite the sizeable offer.
