Manchester United and Newcastle United could engage in another transfer battle in the market as they are interested in Nick Woltemade.
According to The Sun, Nick Woltemade is now a target for Manchester United and Newcastle United. The Premier League duo could begin a fresh transfer battle, this time for the German international, as Bayern Munich may cool their interest.
Nick Woltemade is primed as the next big thing coming out of German football, and has already seen big links with a move away from Stuttgart. The forward is rated at £40 million at the moment, but the Bundesliga club have been asking for a lot more.
The asking price was the primary reason for key suitor Bayern Munich to cool their interest despite agreeing on personal terms with Woltemade. The Bavarian giants have already signed Luis Diaz from Liverpool, which pretty much ends their pursuit of the £40 million-rated German international.
There is still plenty of interest from other big clubs, with Manchester United and Newcastle United are now keen on the attacker. With Bayern Munich likely out of the race, there is a probability for either of those teams to make their presence felt.
The £40 million price might be the reported valuation, but during Bayern Munich’s chase, Stuttgart wanted significantly more. The price point for forwards has been skyrocketing, and that might be the case with Woltemade, although Manchester United and Newcastle United could potentially make an effort.
Premier League duo looking at strikers
Manchester United’s case is well documented as they are currently chasing Benjamin Sesko alongside Newcastle United. The Red Devils had considered others like Ollie Watkins and Nicolas Jackson, although the Slovenian seems like their preferred target at this point. Hence, it is clear that Woltemade is probably a secondary option as Sesko is their priority at this stage.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United are struggling for relevance in the transfer market, particularly with their issue with Alexander Isak, who desires an exit. Moreover, the club have failed to land most of their top targets, and continues searching for a viable striker option, as their situation looks grim. With that in mind, it is very difficult to see them challenging a top club for a top player in the window.
