Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United seem ready to meet Eintracht Frankfurt’s demands for the signature of Hugo Ekitike.
According to a report from the BILD, Newcastle United are pushing hard to secure the services of Hugo Ekitike. The Magpies have identified the Eintracht Frankfurt forward as a priority target for the summer, and they are ready to put forward an offer close to €100 million to strike a deal with the German club.
While things did not work out for Ekitike at PSG, he has completely turned things around since joining Frankfurt at the start of 2024. It was an initial loan deal, which was made permanent last summer. In his first full season with the club, the 23-year-old was involved in a total of 48 matches, and he ended up contributing towards 34 goals.
Eintracht Frankfurt want a fortune to sell Hugo Ekitike
Ekitike’s exceptional performances have put him on the radar of quite a few top clubs from across Europe. Eintracht Frankfurt are aware of the increasing interest in his signature, but they are not worried about the situation. The Bundesliga outfit value him at €100 million, and with his contract running until 2029, they are in complete control over his future.
While the asking price has forced a few clubs to drop their interest in the young striker, Newcastle United have not given up just yet. The Magpies are keen on retaining the services of Alexander Isak and are working hard to sign another world-class striker, who can support him in the final third.
Eddie Howe believes Ekitike could do wonders for them both in the short as well as the long run. As a result, they have been working on a potential transfer for some time. The Magpies reportedly submitted an offer worth around €80 million, which was turned down by the German club.
Newcastle United are ready to meet Frankfurt’s demands
While reports initially suggested the Tyneside club had no intentions of meeting Eintracht Frankfurt’s demands, their stance seems to have changed. They are gearing up to submit an offer worth €100 million in total.
Not only are they close to striking a deal with Frankfurt, but Florian Plettenberg has suggested Newcastle United have made significant progress during their talks with Ekitike. Talks are in an advanced stage and the German club are expecting a second offer from the Premier League club.
The improved offer is expected to meet their demands. While the Magpies do not have the green light from the player yet, this is seen as a strategy to put pressure on the player to accept a move to Tyneside.
