Manchester United, Newcastle United, and West Ham United have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
According to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Manchester United, Newcastle United, and West Ham United are all keen on signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer. All three clubs have received a boost in their pursuit as the English international is ready to leave Everton.
Calvert-Lewin came up the ranks at Sheffield United before making the move to the Merseyside club in the summer of 2016. The Englishman has gone on to establish himself as a key figure in the club, and he has been a consistent performer over the years.
Calvert-Lewin’s struggles at Everton
But things have not been that great for him in recent seasons, as he has struggled to stay fit. The 28-year-old has not managed to hit double digits in goals in any of the last four campaigns, and it has a lot to do with the injuries that he has picked up.
While the English striker has struggled in the last few seasons, Everton are still keen on having him around. Calvert-Lewin finds himself on the wishlist of quite a few top clubs as he could be available for free this summer with his contract running out.
The Toffees are working hard on a new deal, but the 28-year-old has turned down the club’s advances. While David Moyes’s team have not given up hope, they are yet to make any progress. The Scottish manager is desperate to have the English international around despite his injury struggles and the fact that he has been sidelined since the turn of the calendar.
Meanwhile, Everton are reluctant to lose out on him as they gear up for a new era at their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium. Despite all efforts from the Merseyside club, Calvert-Lewin seems to be ready to make a move away from the club, forcing them to look for a replacement.
Premier League rivals are ready to sign Calvert-Lewin
Newcastle United, West Ham United, and Manchester United are all interested in signing a striker of his calibre for free. The Magpies want to add more depth up top and believe the 28-year-old could provide much-needed support to Alexander Isak. Eddie Howe is a big fan of the former Sheffield United striker, and the prospect of signing him for free has been hard to ignore for people at the Tyneside club.
West Ham and Manchester United have already enquired about the availability of the Everton star. The Hammers are looking to freshen things up in the final third. Evan Ferguson will return to his parent club in the summer, and with Michail Antonio and Danny Ings’s contracts running out, Calvert-Lewin could be an ideal option to reinforce their attack.
As far as Manchester United are concerned, Ruben Amorim seeks more firepower in the final third despite having Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee in his squad. The Red Devils made an enquiry back in February, but their interest has not advanced since.
