Real Madrid are interested in acquiring the services of Arsenal defensive sensation Riccardo Calafiori ahead of next season.
According to a report from Fichajes, Real Madrid could knock on the doors of Arsenal in the summer for the signature of Riccardo Calafiori. The reigning La Liga champions want to reinforce their defence on a priority basis, and they consider the Italian international an ideal fit for their long-term plans.
Calafiori made a name for himself at Bologna before making a move to Arsenal last summer. The Gunners forked out €45 million to sign the Italian defensive sensation. While he has not been a regular feature in their XI and has struggled because of injuries, the Gunners are quite happy with what they have seen from the 22-year-old.
Riccardo Calafiori has featured in a total of 26 matches, and he has contributed towards five goals. While the majority of his appearances have come on the left flank, he can be equally effective in a central role, making him a very valuable member of Mikel Arteta’s team.

Los Blancos even want to add more quality at left-back as they are not entirely certain about Ferland Mendy being their first-choice full-back going forward.
Calafiori’s arrival can not only add depth to the heart of the defence, but he can even compete with Mendy for a place in the starting XI. He seems to be a perfect fit for Real Madrid, and they are interested in making a move.

Real Madrid won’t find it easy to sign Calafiori as his value has skyrocketed, and the Gunners have no intentions of negotiating his departure. They consider him an integral part of their future plans and believe he will only get better with time.
With the Italian defender’s contract running until the summer of 2029, Arsenal do not have anything to worry about. The Gunners won’t let him leave for less than €80 million, a figure that will certainly complicate Real Madrid’s pursuit of his signature.
