Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United reportedly have no intention to cash in on Rasmus Hojlund ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Manchester United are not actively looking to sell Rasmus Hojlund. While the Danish international has not been able to live up to expectations, the Red Devils want to avoid booking a loss on him. More importantly, Ruben Amorim still believes the young striker can live up to his potential.
Hojlund made the move to Old Trafford on the back of an impressive season with Atalanta. The Red Devils forked out a total package worth €85 million to acquire his services in the summer of 2023. He had a decent debut campaign, amassing 16 goals and two assists in his 43 outings.
However, things have not been that great for him this season. Not only has he struggled with injuries, but the 22-year-old only has seven goals and an assist in his 35 games. He has only bagged two goals in the Premier League, which is certainly not good enough.
Rasmus Hojlund has failed to live up to the expectations, and his poor performances have resulted in him being linked with a move away from the club. While Leeds United are one of the clubs that have been linked with the Dane, they are not looking to make a move for him. The financial side of things are beyond their capabilities, and the Red Devils do not have any intentions of letting him leave on loan.
Manchester United do not plan on selling Hojlund
More importantly, Manchester United are not actively looking to sell the Danish international. Having forked out a fortune to sign Rasmus Hojlund, they are well aware of the fact that they will have to book a loss on their €85 million investment if they end up selling him at the end of the campaign.
Raising funds from his departure won’t mean anything if they end up making a book loss. As a result, Manchester United are not yet rushing to offload the 22-year-old, who has not been able to live up to expectations. They are not thinking about a move, as Amorim still has not lost hope on him.
The Portuguese manager believes that Hojlund can fulfil his potential despite his poor performances this season. With the manager backing him, the Red Devils are not trying to force him out. Meanwhile, the player is keen on staying as he wants to fight for a place in the team.
