Las Palmas are closer to bringing Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic as he could cut short his RB Salzburg loan imminently.
According to Relevo, Stefan Bajcetic could be set for a second loan move this season as he closes in on a move to Spanish side Las Palmas. The La Liga side could take advantage of the market opportunity to bring the Liverpool midfield prodigy as the Premier League club are set to recall him from his spell at RB Salzburg.
Stefan Bajcetic looked like a promising talent when he broke through the Liverpool first team during the 2022-23 season. Under former boss Jurgen Klopp, the Spanish U-21 star looked like a good prospect for the club to develop, altough things have not gone to plan so far.
While the Merseysiders retain faith in his talents, they are not overly sure his immediate future lies at Anfield. Last summer, when they failed to sign Martin Zubimendi, many had expected Bajcetic to stay put in case a new midfielder did not arrive, although he was allowed to join RB Salzburg on loan for the whole season.
The move transpired despite late interest from Barcelona, although by then, the Liverpool midfield prodigy had committed to signing for Salzburg. The Austrian side, then managed by former Klopp assistant Pep Ljinders, seemed like the perfect platform for the midfielder to thrive, but once again, things did not go to plan.
While he was fairly regular under Ljinders at Salzburg, Bajcetic has only started half the 12 Bundesliga games he’s played this season. Since Ljinders’ sacking, he has lost further ground with the team, as Liverpool have already contemplated a recall amid interest from Real Betis.
While Real Betis were closer to signing him, the interest might have waned as they have made other moves including that of Manchester United’s Antony on loan. They may no longer have the capacity to bring another player on loan, as the Spanish side may need a departure before signing someone like Bajcetic.
Las Palmas are closer to landing Stefan Bajcetic
As things stand, another La Liga side in Las Palmas are closing in on landing Bajcetic on loan for the remainder of the season. The mid-table Spanish team are sensing an opportunity to take the midfielder off Salzburg’s books and use him for the rest of the campaign to boost their chances of finishing higher this season.
A move to Spain might benefit the Liverpool midfield prodigy, as he could expect regular game time in the next part of the season. He will want to prove a point to Liverpool or make himself a big player for the summer window, as his future seems far away from Arne Slot’s first-team plans at Anfield.
