Manchester United considering Dorgeles Nene move

Manchester United are considering a move for Red Bull Salzburg’s Dorgeles Nene this month amid concerns about their attacking areas.

According to Give Me Sport, Manchester United are looking for options on the wing and have set their sights on Dorgeles Nene. The Red Bull Salzburg hotshot could be available, as Ruben Amorim is concerned about attacking depth in the wide areas, which could spark further debate about two of their existing stars.

Ruben Amorim needs a few signings this month to improve his squad. Manchester United’s decision to appoint the Portuguese tactician might have come at a cost, as the former Sporting CP coach wants to implement his style at the expense of results.

Manchester United were 13th in the table when they sacked Erik ten Hag and are still in the same position in the standings. Amorim has changed their style, implementing a back three system and the usage of wing-backs, which also happens to be an area he needs signings in this month.

US Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu has been linked with a move, and reports have pointed towards the Danish international being considered for the left wing-back role rather than on the right wing as part of the front three. Manchester United are keen to add another player on the left-wing as part of the final third, with Red Bull Salzburg’s Dorgelese Nene has emerged as a target.

Nene, who has been sensational for the Austrian side, is considered a cheaper alternative given Manchester United have problems forking out hefty fees this month. The 22-year-old African winger is not viewed as an alternative to Dorgu. Instead, the club wants to bring both players.

Ruben Amorim wants a new winger

There are concerns on the wing, particularly the left-hand side of the pitch, as Alejandro Garnacho is linked with an exit this month. Chelsea are connected with the Argentine, while Napoli have also shown an interest in the attacker. Then there’s the situation with Marcus Rashford, who is widely expected to depart the club, as both those potential exits would weaken the left-wing slots.

Hence, the idea of Nene would be worth exploring, mainly if Manchester United can convince RB Salzburg to let him leave for a decent fee. The 22-year-old African winger would not improve the Red Devils drastically, although this is the right step towards building a competitive squad for the present and future.
