Arsenal could consider a late move for Nigerian star Victor Osimhen as Mikel Arteta continues to search for a replacement for Gabriel Jesus.
According to Football Insider, Arsenal are pondering a late-window move for Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian striker is currently at Galatasaray on loan from Napoli and is seemingly available for a move this month as Mikel Arteta continues to search for a striker to replace the injured Gabriel Jesus.
Gabriel Jesus’s injury will rule him out for the remainder of the season and nearly a year as he ruptured his Anterior Cruciate Ligament. The Brazilian’s absence further depleted Mikel Arteta’s attacking options, with Arsenal already dealing with Bukayo Saka’s injury likely to keep him out until March.
It is clear that Arteta cannot rely on his current options, especially with the number of games played every week. Hence, they are looking for reinforcements to make up the numbers but, most importantly, to add quality to their attacking setup.
Many names have been linked this month, with stories insisting Arsenal rekindling their interest in Benjamin Sesko. The Gunners might have to wait six months to land the Slovenian, and he may be looking to finish the season with RB Leipzig.
Dusan Vlahovic is another name on their list, and the Gunners could explore a deal for the Serb either on loan or on a permanent basis, although it will be a complicated pursuit. Meanwhile, the Gunners are now pondering a move for Victor Osimhen, with Nigerian being a big name in the market and seemingly available.
Osimhen on Arsenal’s radar
Osimhen brings plenty of goals and box presence for any club looking to sign him. He continues to have a successful season on loan at Galatasaray, where he has contributed to 20 goals this season. His parent club, Napoli, are resigned to using him after a breakdown in relations last summer. There is some interest in the market, with Manchester United one of those keen.
Arsenal may have to pay his release clause, which is within range of their price point as one might assume a deal could be brokered. However, his wages will be a bother for any team looking to sign him, although, with the shortage of numbers, the Gunners might ponder a late window move for the Nigerian international.
