West Ham United have enquired about the availability of RB Leipzig forward Andre Silva as they look to reinforce their attack.
Graham Potter surely has a massive task at hand at West Ham United, having taken charge of the club less than a week back. He is off to a flying start with a win in his first league outing, but there is a lot that needs to be taken care of.
For now, the Hammers need to address the issue in the final third of the pitch. Injuries to key stars have forced them to look into the market for a new number nine and according to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, West Ham have enquired about RB Leipzig striker Andre Silva.
The Portuguese international joined the Bundesliga outfit in the summer of 2021. While he did have an impressive debut season, he has slowly fallen out of favour at the club. The 29-year-old was out on loan at Real Sociedad last season and this time around, he has been more of a backup option.
West Ham reignite interest in Silva
With just over 300 minutes of first-team action, Silva does not seem to have a future at RB Leipzig despite the fact that his contract there runs until the summer of 2026. West Ham are taking an interest in him, and they could offer him an opportunity to revive his career.
The Hammers wanted to sign him back in 2021 while he was still playing for Eintracht Frankfurt at the request of their former boss David Moyes. But things did not go according to plan for the Scottish manager. Now, the Irons have reignited their interest in him as they look to address the injury crisis at the club.
With Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug out injured, Danny Ings is the only out-and-out striker available to Potter. So, West Ham want to bring in someone on a priority basis before the end of the transfer window, and they have been linked with quite a few strikers, including Michy Batshuayi.
Silva is one of the names on their wishlist, and they have already asked for information regarding the 29-year-old who is not really an important part of Leipzig’s first team. It will be interesting to see how things develop from here.
