Arsenal could submit offer for Ronald Araujo this month

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal could table an offer for the services of Barcelona defensive mainstay Ronald Araujo in the ongoing window.

According to Sport via SportWitness, Arsenal could submit an offer for Ronald Araujo in the coming days as they look to bolster their defence mid-way through the season. But, they are unlikely to meet the demands of Barcelona who value him at around €70-80 million.

Araujo got promoted to their first team towards the end of 2020. He became an instant hit and cemented his spot in the team. The Uruguayan international was one of the first names on their team sheet until last season but he was out injured for the entire first half of the 2024/25 season.

The 25-year-old recently marked his return to the Copa del Rey. While Hansi Flick has insisted that he considers Araujo an integral part of his plans and wants him around, the player is keen on parting ways with the Catalan club.

Araujo to switch clubs this month

He has entered the final 18 months of his contract and is pushing for a move away from the club with his agents looking for an ideal destination. Barcelona seem ready to let him leave as long as their demands are met. The Spanish giants would ideally want around €70-80 million to part ways with their defensive star.

Juventus who have been hit with some serious injuries at the back are looking to add Araujo to their squad in this window. While they even submitted a €35 million offer, it was instantly turned down by the Catalan giants who are quite clear with their stance on his future.

Arsenal want Araujo

While the Old Lady are considering putting forward an improved offer, Arsenal have emerged as another potential destination for the 25-year-old. The Gunners already have a strong defensive base but Arteta wants to further strengthen his rotation and a world-class talent like Araujo could surely help strengthen their team as a whole.

The North London club are looking to put forward an offer in the coming days and Barcelona feel they can match their aspirations. Meanwhile, the Catalan giants are waiting in hopes that they could raise significant funds from the Uruguayan international’s departure.
