Alejandro Garnacho open to leaving Manchester United amid Atletico Madrid links

Alejandro Garnacho is ready to part ways with Manchester United as he is not satisfied with his role under Ruben Amorim.

According to a report from TBR, Alejandro Garnacho is ready to leave Manchester United as he is frustrated with life under Ruben Amorim. The Argentine international is in favour of a sensational return to boyhood club Atletico Madrid who are keen on his signature.

Garnacho joined the United youth ranks towards the end of 2020 from Atletico. He went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to the Red Devils’ first team in the summer of 2022. The 20-year-old winger already has over 100 senior appearances and has contributed towards 36 goals for the team in red.

While Garnacho certainly has a bright future and he is already amongst their best players, the Argentine winger could be on the move in the near future. Despite his ability to feature on either flanks as well as in a central role, he is not really seen as an ideal fit for Amorim’s system.

More importantly, the former Atletico star doesn’t have the best of relations with the Portuguese manager who famously left him out of the squad that secured a sensational 2-1 win over rivals Manchester City.

Garnacho wants to leave United

Post the City game, all his appearances for the Red Devils have come off the bench. The 20-year-old is frustrated by his role in the team and is reportedly ready to leave Old Trafford. While his contract at the English club runs until the summer of 2028, United won’t stand in his way if he decides to leave.

The former Sporting boss as well as people at the club rate him quite highly but they are also aware of the fact that his departure for the right price could be a significant financial boost. Since he is considered a homegrown player, it will result in pure profit which will help them balance their books.

With Garnacho ready to leave the Manchester-based club, Atletico have emerged as a potential destination. Diego Simeone seeks more quality on the flanks and they are willing to bring back their former youth star. He has all the qualities to succeed at the Madrid-based club and could end up being an ideal long-term replacement for Antoine Griezmann who is in the twilight of his career.
