Manchester United in transfer tussle to sign Christian Ordonez

Manchester United are reportedly ready to battle it out for the services of Argentine midfield sensation Christian Ordonez.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness, Manchester United are one of the clubs that are interested in acquiring the services of Christian Ordonez. The young Argentine midfielder has caught the attention of quite a few top clubs, and he could be on the move in the ongoing transfer window.

Ordonez has come up the ranks at Vélez Sarsfield. The highly-rated midfielder got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2023, and he has gone from strength to strength over the last 18 months.

The 20-year-old prefers playing as a central midfielder but is capable enough to play in a deeper role when needed. The Argentine youth international has featured in 70 first-team games, and his consistent performances have resulted in interest from some of the biggest clubs.

Manchester United are one of the clubs that want to sign the youngster. The Red Devils are expected to make quite a few changes to their squad over the next few transfer window. While they do not have the best financial situation at this point, the Red Devils are still looking at ways to bolster their squad in January.

Manchester United want to sign Ordonez

With Ruben Amorim reportedly ready to part ways with Christian Eriksen and Casemiro attracting Saudi Pro League interest, Manchester United are looking to bring in some young midfielders. So, Christian Ordonez is one of the names on their wishlist. They have been keeping a close eye on him and consider him an ideal fit for the Portuguese manager’s system.

While the Red Devils are keen on his signature, they will have to battle it out with Brentford as well as Bologna to bring him to Old Trafford. The Bees seek more quality in the centre of the park, and Ordonez could be an ideal signing for the short as well as the long run.

A move to Brentford could be highly beneficial for the Argentine youngster, as he could have regular first-team action. Meanwhile, the Italian outfit could be the biggest problem for the Red Devils. Bologna are looking to steal a march, and they are already in contact with the player.

The Rossoblu plan to hold a meeting with the club in the coming days to strike a deal and bring the Argentine sensation to Italy. Ordonez has a €10 million release clause in his contract, and Bologna are looking to have a deferred payments deal in place to make things easier for themselves. Having signed Santiago Castro from Velez in 2024, the Italian club are confident about getting this deal over the line.
