Manchester United preparing offer to sign Bryan Mbeumo

Manchester United are reportedly preparing a €50 million bid to test Brentford’s resolve on star attacker Bryan Mbeumo this month.

According to Fichajes, Bryan Mbeumo is the subject of a €50 million bid from Manchester United this month. The Red Devils are interested in the in-form Brentford attacker, although there are complications in this chase as the Bees might value him for more money as well as block any move this month.

Many Brentford fans did not know what to expect from the team the moment they lost Ivan Toney last summer, given how important the striker was for the way they played. Little did they think that Bryan Mbeumo would come out of the shadows the way he has done and become their main man in the team.

Mbeumo notched his 13th goal of the Premier League season at the weekend and has been one of the most form players in the division. His early season displays had already attracted a lot of teams towards a possible January move, as at one stage, Liverpool considered him as a possible successor to Mohamed Salah.

Newcastle United are also interested, but the first move might come from Manchester United, as per the report. The Red Devils are keen on Mbeumo as they could table a €50 million offer to test Brentford’s resolve. Whether that much would be enough to convince the Bees remains a doubt, although, with an offer, Manchester United could signal their intent.

The Red Devils are in the market for a marquee attacker and could make funds available to sign one in this window. Victor Osimhen is a player of interest to Manchester United, while there are links to Viktor Gyokeres, among others. The idea of signing Mbeumo would be enticing for their fans, as this is a player proven in the Premier League.

Brentford might not sell Bryan Mbeumo in January

Brentford do not need to sell Mbeumo this month, as the Premier League forward is their main attacking threat in the team. There’s a contract situation, with the Cameroonian’s current deal expiring in 2026. However, the Bees hold the option to trigger a one-year extension, which, in theory, will help them retain his valuation should the winger go on to have a solid enough season.

As for Manchester United, they are in need of a top attacker and goalscorer, but the right wing position is not an area of priority, given they have the presence of Amad Diallo on that side. Hence, signing Mbeumo would be a bit adventurous, although they should focus on other areas of the pitch, such as a left-back or a midfielder this month.
