According to a report from Real Madrid Confidencial, Real Madrid are considering re-signing him, and they are looking to steal a march on Atletico Madrid and Manchester United, who are keen on his signature.
Miguel Gutierrez came up the ranks at Real Madrid. While he got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2022, he was not an important part of Los Blancos’ plans. As a result, the team in white ended up selling him to Girona.
The Spaniard has gone from strength to strength since joining his new club, and he has established himself as one of the best full-backs in Spain. While the 23-year-old has not expressed any desire to leave Girona, multiple top clubs are keen on his signature.
Atletico Madrid also keen on Miguel Gutierrez
Atletico Madrid are one of the clubs who are interested in the young left-back. Diego Simeone wants to bolster his left-back unit and feels Gutierrez could be an ideal fit for their system. While they are plotting a move for the young full-back, Real Madrid reportedly have a secret clause that will prevent his move to their city rivals.
Los Blancos can prevent Girona from negotiating with certain clubs because of that clause, and Atletico Madrid are believed to be one of those clubs. Real Madrid are looking to steal a march on their direct rivals by re-signing the 23-year-old.
With Alphonso Davies’s arrival on a free transfer not a certainty, people at the club have been closely monitoring Miguel Gutierrez, and they could trigger a buy-back clause in his contract. They can sign him for just €9 million in 2025 while the fee will continue to rise by €1 million with every passing season.
