Regis Le Bris has warned Trey Ogunsuyi of dreaming of a quick move to one of the bigger teams, as he believes Sunderland can offer him the right path.
Sunderland have come to the fore with the production of some of the top young talents in English football. They are already contemplating offers for Chris Rigg, with the young star likely to get many proposals from top Premier League sides.
The Black Cats also have goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, who has the attention of many Premier League sides, with Tottenham being the latest with interest. Now, the EFL Championship outfit are worried about the future of young prospect Trey Ogunsuyi, after the attacker posted impressive numbers with the youth sides.
He has 15 goals in 17 games in Sunderland’s youth sides, as the 17-year-old productive wunderkind is slowly emerging as a big target for Liverpool as per a few reports elsewhere. Sunderland are eager to offer him a pathway to success rather than lose him early in his development.
Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris has come to the fore by commenting on what could be the situation with Ogunsuyi, as his comments on The Daily Mirror indicate the manager is eager to keep him at the club and provide him with a solid pathway for his development.
“Yes, I think so. He’s very young and probably Riggy, Tommy and Jobe are the best examples to follow in our club. When you move to another club with a very strong squad you have to find the right environment to develop yourself. I don’t know. Social media and so on can talk a lot but at the end if we create the right environment and the player, his family and agents are rational, we are in a good place to create the right pathway for him.”
Liverpool are eagerly strengthening their youth sides in the background, with the summer arrival of Rio Ngumoha one of their biggest finds, as they managed to bring him from Chelsea. Similarly, they are targeting many promising players as the Reds are keen to emphasise youth development.
The idea of signing a promising attacker like the 17-year-old productive wonderkid from Sunderland will go a long way to improve their young squads. However, Sunderland are seemingly eager to push for the idea to keep him on board and provide a solid pathway for his development in the future.
