Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Diogo Jota will return to the Liverpool starting lineup against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Liverpool are winless in the last two Premier League outings, and they will be desperate for all three points when they lock horns with Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday evening.
The away side will be without the services of Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate this weekend. Both players have been sidelined with short-term injuries, and they are working on their recovery. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Arne Slot provided a fitness update on the duo.
Slot said on Bradley and Konate, “These are the two that are still ‘in the red’, so they don’t train with us at the moment. They are on their way back but they don’t train with the team yet.
“The main thing is that if they come back, they are ready to come back and we must not focus on one, two or three days. It’s more important for the long term that they stay fit afterwards. Until now they [the medical staff] have done really well and hopefully with Conor and Ibou the same thing happens.”
Liverpool are likely to shape up in a 4-2-3-1 formation againt Tottenham, with Alisson Becker in goal. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson will continue in the full-back areas, and they will look to contribute at both ends of the pitch. Joe Gomez will line up at the heart of the defence alongside Virgil van Dijk.
As for the midfield unit, Alexis Mac Allister will add creativity and control to the side alongside Ryan Gravenberch in the double pivot. The Dutch international will control the tempo of the game and help out defensively.
Dominik Szoboszlai will reprise the no. 10 role, and he will look to link up with the attackers and create goalscoring opportunities in the final third. Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz will continue in their usual wide roles. Finally, Diogo Jota is likely to lead the line for Liverpool against Tottenham, with Darwin Nunez dropping to the bench.
